  • Job is a combination position that encompasses Same Day Services, OR/Phase II Recovery RN responsibilities.
  • Expectations include working in same day services, phase 2 recovery, and procedural sedation for GI/procedures in surgery department & outpatient procedures such as IV antibiotics, wound care, blood administration.
  • Responsibilities involve preparing patients for surgery, monitoring intraoperatively, and assisting with recovery.
  • Administer RN moderate sedation for endoscopy procedures.
  • Directly assist surgeon and anesthetist with procedures.
  • Conduct outpatient IV therapy, blood product transfusions, and wound dressing changes.
  • Handle preop and postop patient phone calls.
  • Responsible for sterilization of surgical instruments and reprocessing of endoscopy equipment.
    • Job Requirements
    • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
    • Must have skills: IV starts, admissions, recoveries, experience with Endo, C-Sections, PACU/Phase 2, Procedural Sedation.
    • Minimum of 2 years' experience required.
    • No prior travel experience necessary.
    • Scrubbing is not required.
      • Schedule Information
      • Shifts & Scheduling Details: 0545-1415 or 0730-1600, work approx. 40 hours Monday-Friday, no weekends
      • No Call for Same Day Services Department.
      • Floating Requirements: as other departments need and our case load allows
      • One week of unit/department specific orientation.
        • Unit Specific Information
        • Number of Beds/Suites: 7 SDS rooms, 2 ORs, 1 endo suite
        • Nurse to Patient Ratios: Varies widely, generally 4:1
        • Average number of cases per day: Includes 5 endoscopy cases, scheduled and emergent c-sections, 9 cataract cases 2x/month, occasional 1-3 podiatry cases, and outpatient cases vary daily
        • OR covers Phase 1, SDS covers Phase 2
        • Common Cases: colonoscopy, egd most common
        • No charge nurse role; Manager and CNO available for immediate concerns
        • No techs or nurse aids on this unit
        • EMR: Meditech
        • RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): Not in the SDS department, available in hospital.
          • Additional Details
          • No clinical involvement/manager interview required for this position.
          • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
          • RTO needed upfront - Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
